The Zen Practice of Drawing Your Own Enso Circle

  • Wimbledon Art Studios 10 Riverside Yard London SW17 0BB (map)

Nathalie Brilliant
Studio 289

The Enso circle represents the beauty of imperfection. It is done in one fluid movement and after it is done the circle is not changed. It evidences the character of its creator and the context of its creation in a brief, continuous period of time. The act of drawing enso is a spiritual practice that can be done once a day.

In this workshop, Nathalie will lead a short guided meditation (approximately 5 minutes). Once your minds have cleared through this meditation, you will paint an Enso circle onto a small canvas (included in the cost). The paint will be applied in a specific method that allows for a fluid experience of the paint. This practice is meditative and promotes a trust in one’s own process and initial mark, which transcends into one’s daily life and approach. After the Enso circle is made more can be added to the painting within the time that remains.

Sunday 12 May 1pm-2pm
