Title: Raku Ceramic Mini Moon Jar
Sub-Title: Vibrant warm yellow bulbous “moon” jar. Fired in a modern Raku process which has delivered the classical raku crackle and unpredictability. The foot, neck and inside are unglazed to enhance the shape and highlight the texture of the carbonised raw clay. The neck and foot are finished with a gold leaf maker’s mark.
Size: Height 12.5cm. Width 12.5cm.
Description: Ghaz is a contemporary studio ceramicist who has been based at Wimbledon Art Studios for several years. His work is noted for its simple lines and bold colours. This piece is typical of Ghaz’ Raku work. It was thrown on the wheel and initially fired in Ghaz’ Wimbledon studio. It was then glaze fired in a special Raku kiln that Ghaz has built outside London (due to Raku’s fierce and fiery nature).
